Welcome to FIRST North Carolina, a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization created to inspire youth in North Carolina to pursue further studies and careers in science and technology and to help students acquire the knowledge and skills needed to compete in the technologically-driven global economy. We are the state-level support organization for FIRST - For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology, a national nonprofit dedicated to inspiring the next generation of engineers, innovators and entrepreneurs.
FIRST is the only evidence-based STEM enrichment program in the country! Something of which we are very proud.
FIRST programs all share two basic components:
1. engagement of students in the creative, hands-on, minds-on process of technological innovation; and
2. bringing communities together to celebrate the achievements of kids working smart in science and technology.
Participation in FIRST has a positive impact on the lives of students, increasing college attendance, majors in science and engineering, participation in internships and co-ops, and involvement in community service.
